Ask me all about the Harvest parade and celebration! We had a blast getting dressed up and walking in the parade. It was so much fun to welcome our families into the classroom to help us get ready and enjoy a small celebration afterwards. We loved seeing each others different costumes! Even Miss Walker dressed up!
Ask me all about the pumpkin life cycle. Yesterday we read a nonfiction text Pumpkin Life Cycle and learned all about how a pumpkin grows. It was so interesting to learn all the stages that a pumpkin goes through! Today we learned about retelling a story in sequential order. We worked with a group and looked back at the story to put the stages of a pumpkin in the correct order. It was so much fun working with our classmates and discussing the life cycle of a pumpkin again! Ask me all about pumpkin seed counting! Today we go to sort through a pile of pumpkin goo and pull out all the seeds we could find. We all made estimates as to how many seeds the entire pumpkin would contain. Some said, " 10, 40, 90, 100." We then worked together to try to determine the actual number of seeds within our pumpkin! It was so much fun sorting through the goo and counting the number of seeds that we had. In total our whole pumpkin had 232 seeds!
Ask me all about the pumpkin we investigated today! Today Miss Walker surprised us with a small pumpkin, which we were able to hold and look at! We described it by sight and said it was, "orange, dirty, brown stem, and had lines." We also were able to describe it by touch! We said, "It's smooth, some patches were rough, bumpy where the lines were, and was heavy." We then made our hypothesis "guess" as to if we thought the pumpkin would sink or float! It was so much fun to watch Miss Walker put the pumpkin into the water and hear it bump to the bottom! We realized that pumpkins sink and we thought it was because how heavy it was. Ask me all about comparing numbers! We have been learning about math language to use when comparing numbers. We learned more, less, and same and know what each of those words mean! We have also been working really hard to apply that vocabulary and skill during stations work. It was so much fun playing the compare game, grab & count compare, and comparing bears! We enjoy finding out which partner has more, less, or if we even have the same!
Ask me all about the things I can do during stations! Today we created a list of things that we can do during station time to make sure we stay on task. It was so much fun discussing the importance of our list and discussing all the things we can do by ourselves. We worked so hard during our stations and made sure to follow our I can chart!
Ask me all about being a problem solver during stations! Today we created a list of ways we can problem solve ourselves during stations time. We discussed how important it is to be able to fix the problems ourselves that we can. It was so great to see our ideas listed on the chart. We even were able to practice them today and did such a wonderful job!
Ask me about what hard working students we are in our literacy stations! Today we were were able to get our stations out and get started right away! We worked the whole time and tried our very best! Sometimes our station was challenging, but we didn't give up and kept trying!
Ask me all about the word of the day careful! Today we learned that careful means to take care with what you do and take your time. We even watched a Sesame Street video! We then talked about being careful writers, readers, and students! It was so much fun practicing our word in everything that we did today!
Ask me about comparing numbers! Today in math learned how to compare two numbers by using connecting cubes. We counted each tower and looked to see which one had more and which one had less. We even were able to record our work on our own connecting cube sheet!
Ask me all about the new math strategy we learned today! Today in math we learned a new way to double check our work! We start with the total and then count back by one each time. We started with 10 and then double checked by counting back" 10, 9, 8, 7,6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. It was so much fun counting a different way.
