Ask me all about labeling! Today we learned how to label our writing using our letter sounds to help us spell the words! We learned that we label to tell the reader about the picture. Ask me all about the life story that I labeled! We also learned about the sight word "the". We were lucky enough to listen to a song to help us learn the 3 letters that form "the". We also are learning about the letter K! Please practice recognizing this letter and the letter sound that it makes with me at home.

Ask me all about our special applesauce! Today we celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday. During Reading today we learned how the pictures match the words, and that we can use the pictures to help us understand and read our stories. We also read the book Johnny Appleseed where we learned what a great person he. Did you know that his real name was John Chapman? Once we learned all about him we were lucky enough to have two special helpers: Mrs. Steward and Mrs. Masi come in to help us make applesauce! We cut the apples into tiny pieces and put them into the crock pot. Our applesauce had to cook all day and it smelled DELICIOUS, we couldn't wait to try it! Ask me if I enjoyed the applesauce or not. Thank you Johnny Appleseed for providing us with this delectable fruit!
Ask me all about the Harvest Luncheon! Today some of our families came in to enjoy a lunch prepared by all the students and teachers of our school! It was a blast being able to eat with my family and teacher and enjoying a delicious meal that I helped to prepare! Ask me all about sinking and floating! First we watched a BrainPOP video on sinking and floating to make sure we understood it. We explored apples again and came up with our own hypothesis if we thought the apples and seeds would sink or float. Ask me if my hypothesis was correct! Ask me all about the life cycle of an apple tree! Friday is Johnny Appleseed's birthday and we have been learning all about apples in preparation for it! Today we learned all about the life cycle of an apple tree. We even watched a video to help us learn about it! We also were able to create our own apple tree life cycle in sequential order! It was so much fun! Ask me all about our word of the day! We learned the word unique today. We watched a Sesame Street video and learned what the word unique means: one of a kind. It is so important for us to understand that we are each unique especially as we share our "all about me" posters. We love adding new vocabulary to our language!
Ask me all about Lollia and Nathaniel! They shared their "all about me" posters today. We learned that Nathaniel loves to play with Legos and Lollia enjoys ballet. They had many other important things to say as well! We were so respectful to our two friends and showed we listened by sharing one important thing they said. Ask me all about our special writing tool! Today we were lucky enough to explore using our HANDY DANDY PENCILS! We used them to illustrate our life stories today. We had so much fun using this tool and showing again what super writers do.
Ask me all about our guest reader! Mrs. Cowenhoven visited our classroom today and shared two special stories with us The Monster Who Ate My Peas and The Giant Jam Sandwich. We loved these two stories and learned an important message from The Monster Who Ate My Peas that you should try new things because you might be pleasantly surprised! Today in writing we learned that illustrators use realistic colors when they draw their pictures. We created our own illustration of an important story from our lives. We worked really hard and showed what super writers do: use 5 colors, work quietly, take our time, use realistic colors, add lots of detail, and write stories about our lives.
Ask me all about how we prepared for the Harvest lunch! Today we went outside with Mrs. Mahar's class and picked green peppers for the Harvest lunch. We then brought them inside washed them off and watched as Miss Walker and Mrs. Mahar cut the peppers into slices. It was so much fun being able to pull the slices into smaller pieces to add to the crock pot. We can't wait for you to taste them on Thursday at our special Harvest luncheon. We also had such a spectacular pajama day that we earned for filling our warm and fuzzy jar! Ask me all about the life story that I "wrote" during writing. Ask me all about our new math stations! Today we learned how to play Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom number match game, cookie counting, and building a number puzzle in sequential order. We worked so hard with our partners and showed each other respect. We practiced taking turns, cheering one another on, and supporting a friend who needs some help. We also answered a question of the day: Are you a girl or boy and each had a chance to write our names on the SmartBoard. It was so much fun counting all the girls and boys in our class.
Ask me all about how we used apples to help us learn. Yesterday in Math we used them to help us count and sort. Today during Science we used them as a tool to help us use our senses! We even voted on our favorite ones. Ask me all about our math lesson using the text Ten Apples Up on Top. We had so much fun using connecting cubes as our "apples" and placed them on our heads as we followed along with the story. Ask me all about my five senses! Today we learned about our five senses and took an exploratory walk through our garden! We had so much fun! We described what we saw, felt, smelt, and touched. |
